Tuesday, December 19th - Seattle, Washington

Been a hectic couple of weeks around our house. Work things, rehearsal and holidays. 'Fiddler on the Roof' is underway on a tight production schedule. We've done the vocal choral and staged 'Tradition'. I miss this next week because of other commitments, then come back to six days a week rehearsal before we open on January 18th. It promises to be a good show and I'm going to have a lot of fun with my part - although I still feel I am too skinny for Lazar Wolf.

We had Christmas celebration with Tommy's family on Sunday. Choral concert with the Montevallo chorale, dinner out and then dessert and presents at our house. The eighty degree weather made it all a little odd but a good time was had by all and I have a lovely new slinky black plush throw that it's much too warm to use.

Yesterday, we boarded the big shiny bird for Seattle. We're here for ten days to play with the nieces, celebrate my parents' 50th wedding anniversary tomorrow and to do the Christmas thing with my family. The weather is much more wintry here. Drear and thirties - about usual for the Pacific Northwest. The family are all well - not a lot of news to report. Might be more after the party tomorrow night.

Thursday, December 7th

I've been very bad about updating the last few weeks. Must be the psychosis finally kicking in. What can I say? It's holiday season again with all that entails being piled on top of all the usual activities. One of these days either I will cancel Christmas, go on a cruise the entire month of December, or drop out of the work force so I can do it properly. Tommy and I have to have all our holiday preparations done by the 17th so we can do his family celebration that day. We fly to Seattle on the 18th for my parents' fiftieth wedding anniversary and holidays there to follow. We come back on the 27th and then have a few days to prepare for our annual holiday bash, tenatively scheduled this year for Sunday the 31st. (Mark your calendars now...)

I have the cards addressed, but have not yet written the annual holiday letter. That happens this weekend. I haul out the holly and put up the lights tomorrow and saturday. (And try to find time to see productions of 'A Christmas Carol' and 'Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf' in there somewhere). I have to head out next week sometime to get gift cards for my clinic staff. In the middle of this all, 'Fiddler on the Roof' rehearsals start. Then there are all the obligatory work related holiday cocktail/wine and cheese/vaguely edible hors d'oeuvres fests to attend.

Started the script and lyrics for this years 'Politically Incorrect Cabaret' - happens last weekend in February in Birmingham and mid-April in Atlanta. We're working on Nashville and New Orleans gigs as well. Trying to be a little more evenhanded and bash a couple of the dems now that they have some power. I want to have it more or less completed by Christmas so I guess I will be doing some writing in Seattle and sending it out via email for comments and editing.

Work is work. We get some more help in the clinic after the first of the year so things should get better. Maybe I can use some of my eight weeks of vacation I have in the bank.
