Tuesday, November 21st

Tommy and I spent a long weekend in Dallas this past weekend. The 59th annual meeting of the Gerontological Society of America. We both needed some continuing education credits and I had a committee meeting so off we went together. As we did not know Tommy's schedule until the last minute, we drove. Not to bad. Made the 645 miles door to door in just over ten hours of drive time each way. Downtown Dallas is not very exciting. Sterile and corporate are the best words I can think of. The west end area with its restaurants and honkytonks is kind of fun. The rest of it seems designed for office commuters and there is little downtown life outside of that dynamic.

As we were in meetings most of the time (mainly of the type presenting 'water is wet' science), we did not spend a lot of time out and about. A couple of decent meals. A trip to the mall to find the Apple store for a keyboard to make using Finale a lot easier and that was about it. The drive was uneventful. We are on volume six of 'The Wheel of Time' with books on tape so that makes the miles go fairly smoothly.

Not much going on at work. I'm taking a little bit of time out of clinic this month and next to keep myself from going too crazy. This is allowing me to get some of the backlog of projects around home done, or at least the piles moved from point A to point B with some regularity. I will need a month or so off to make a real dint in anything.
